A ship of the line launched in 1820 at the New York Navy Yard, this was the second US Navy warship named USS Ohio. From 1838 to 1840 the Ohio was the flagship for Commodore Isaac Hull in the Mediterranean Squadron protecting commerce and suppressing the slave trade off the African coast. From 1841 to 1846 the Ohio served as receiving ship in Boston. The Ohio was recommissioned for service in the War with Mexico (1846 to 184). In 1847 she was assigned to the Pacific Squadron, and spent two years patrolling the Pacific, returning to Boston in 1850 where she was used as a receiving ship until 1875 until sold in 1883 and burned in 1884.
