On this 14th day of August, 1895, personally appeared Laura A. Drummond, who, being duly sworn, declares that she is the lawful widow of Benjamin H. Drummond, deceased: that he died on the 11th day of March, 1881: that he had been granted a pension by Certificate No. ….. which was sent to the Commissioners of Pensions in her application for pension: that he had been paid the pension by the Pension Agent at New York City up to the 4th day of March, 1881 after which date he had not been employed or paid in the Army, Navy, or Marine service of the United States. She respectfully offers the evidence filed in her claim as to marriage” that she was married to the said Benjamin H. Drummond on the day of September, 1860, at Mearlborough Hill (spelling?), in the State of Virginia, that her name before said marriage was Laura A. Berkley; that she had (or had not) been previously married; that her husband had (or had not) been previously married; that she hereby makes application for the pension which had accrued on aforesaid certificate to the date of death; and that her residence is No. 319 W. 29th Street City of New York, County of New York, State of NY and her Post Office address is same place.

Also personally appeared Mary Hinds, residing at No. 319 West 39th Street New York City and Catharine Hopkins residing at No. 319 West 29th St. new York City, who, being duly sworn, say they were present and saw Laura A. Drummond sign her name (make her mark) to the foregoing declaration; that they know her to be the lawful widow of Benjamin H. Drummond, who died on the 11th day of March, 1881 and that their means of knowledge that said parties were husband and wife, and that the husband died on said date, are as follows: by living in the same city and general reports.
