Declaration for Increase Pension, Certificate No. 1719

State of New York

New York County

On this 12th day of September, 1873, before me, a Deputy Clerk of a Court of Record in and for the County and State above-named, personally appeared Benjamin H. Drummond, a resident of 22 Clark St., New York in the State of New York, aged 31 years, who being duly sworn according to law, declares that he is the identical Benjamin H. Drummond who was a ord. Seaman in the U.S. Ship on the Portsmouth Volunteers, in the war of 1861 for the suppression of the rebellion.

That he volunteered at New Bedford in the State of on or about the 4th day of November 1861 for the term of and was honorably discharged at New Orleans on the 4th day of November 1864.

That while in said service in the line of duty at Sabine Pass in the State of Texas on the 21st day of January 1863 he was wounded in the left left for which he is in receipt of a pension of $4 per month on Certificate No. 1719 and that he believes he is entitled to a greater rate, and further that he was wounded in the right shoulder at Sabine Pass, Texas in the engagement with rebel Cotton Boats while on Morning Light on the 21st Jan 1863.

He makes this declaration for the purpose of being placed on the Invalid Pension Roll of the United States, by reason of the disability above stated; and hereby constitutes and appoints E. B. Jackson, of Philadelphia, his Attorney, to prosecute this claim and procure a Pension Certificate.

Sworn to, subscribed and acknowledged before me, the day and year first above written, and on the same day personally appeared James Williams and Peter Autone, residents of New York, who being duly sworn according to law, declare that they have every reason to believe from the appearance of the applicant, and their acquaintance with him, that he is the identical person he represents himself to be; that they reside as above stated, and are disinterested in this claim for a Pension.
