The Tennessee at the time could fight three guns on a side, viz: One 20-pounder Parrott, one 24-pounder, and one 12-pounder Howitzer. The whole battery consisted of one 20-pounder Parrott, two 24-pounder howitzers, and one 12-pounder howitzer. The guns were all forward. The 12-pounder howitzer was mounted on a field carriage.
